Barbed Wire

Barbed wire is a fencing wire with sharp points or edges at intervals along the strands. It's primarily used for inexpensive agricultural fences to contain livestock and for security purposes atop walls. Classification includes wire gauge, number of strands (single or double), barb spacing, and coating (galvanized, PVC-coated), offering various levels of durability and deterrence.

Wire Diameter: Main wire is usually 1.6 mm to 2.8 mm thick.
Wire Type: Made from low-carbon or high-tensile steel wire.
Number of Strands: Comes in single strand or double strand (twisted) types.
Barb Type: Barbs can be 2-point or 4-point, depending on sharpness needed.
Barb Spacing: Barbs are spaced at 75 mm, 100 mm, or 125 mm.
Barb Length: Each barb is around 13 mm to 30 mm long.
Coil Length: Common roll lengths are 50 m, 100 m, 200 m, or 400 m.
Surface Coating: Usually galvanized or PVC-coated to prevent rust.
Wire Gauge: Line wire is often 12 to 14 gauge, barbs are 14 to 16 gauge.
Uses: Used for farm fencing, security, animal control, and property borders.
